Please see answer in the bug reports.

There are no limitations whatsoever. However, only Distribution and Security Groups are listed. And information are maybe not replicated to all DC's.

1) Upgrade to at least version 4.8.0.
2) Make sure that you don't have anything filled into the rootcontext table.
3) Make sure that you don't have anything filled into the 'root' key in registry (i.e. HKCU\Software\Office add-on\eMailSignature).
4) Open Cockpit and menu Application Settings -> Advanced Technical Settings. Here you can try and connect to your GC-Server instead of one DC.

workaround to select the missing groups:
change LDAP-path in the registry key to the OU (organizational unit) where the group is listed. Restart cockpit exe.
It seems that there is a limitation for receiving groups. Our Active directory contains about 5.000 groups.
In our environment everey DC has the same information!
