You have enabled Out of Office on a client, but no replies get sent out to external contact.
Allow automatic Out of Office Messages to the Internet
Default Exchange doesn’t allow sending automatic Out of Office Assistant Messages to the Internet.
The security in this is that there can’t be created any mail loops and that Exchange doesn’t reply to any spam messages.
Disable this behavior for Exchange 2000/2003 accounts:
- Open Exchange System Manager
- Expand your site -> Global Settings -> Internet Message Format
- In the right pane right click Default and choose Properties -> tab Advanced
- Here you can enable or disable the automatic replying/forwarding
