|
|
After giving a user a new laptop with Windows Vista SP1 (Previously had a different laptop with Windows XP SP2 and email signatures worked), the email signatures do not get copied into the C:\Users\Username\appdata\roaming\microsoft\signatures directory. Hense the user doesn't get any email signatures.
I checked the log for the user in the "Cockpit" and it said that the email signature was deployed, but it wasn't.
Please assist.
See the log for the user below: -

You properly don't have the Outlook profile created on the new Vista PC.
Open Outlook create a 'dummy' email signature.
Now Outlook have created the folders for the signature files.
Close Outlook and run Sign.exe.
Open Outlook - OK now? _________________ </Jesper> | Manage Email Signatures from your Desktop | Test Email Signature in All In-boxes | Email Signature Showcase |

|
|
Unfortunately, I am still unable to get any email signature on two Laptops with Vista installed. Please see the steps I performed below: -
Went into Outlook 2007 and clicked on Tools --> Options.
Then went to the Mail Format TAB and clicked on Signatures.
Created a new email signature by clicking on the New button.
Typed in "Test" as the name of the email signature
Type some text in the Test email signature.
Clicked Save and then select the Test email signature as the email signature for New emails and for Forwards /Replies
Click OK in the Signatures window.
Click OK in the Option Window.
Clicked New --> Email and the test email signature appeared.
Closed Outlook
Ran the Sign.exe file
Reopened Outlook 2007 and went into Outlook 2007 and clicked on Tools --> Options.
Then went to the Mail Format TAB and clicked on Signatures
Only the Test email signature was displayed in the Select Signatures to Edit field.
I also checked the following path C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures and the Test.htm, Test.RTF and Test.txt files WERE displayed in this folder.
Please assist. |

In regards to your post
"There is something wrong with your TPB Reply signature in RTF format. Please delete this signature in this format and try again"
I have assigned another email signature to one of the VISTA users with the issue and they still don't get any signatures.
What else can I try? |

The log file you posted is not complete and we cannot guide you if we cannot see what the problem is.
Please delete your TPB Reply signature in RTF format.
The run Sign.exe again for this user, and post new log file.

|
|
Due to the fact that all our companies employees are using the TPB Reply signature, I would prefer not to remove the RTF format from the TPB Reply signature. However, I do have another email signature called TPB External Test that I use for testing which has the same email signature as the TPB Reply. I don't want to effect 95% of our Windows XP users so that 5% of our VISTA users get their email signature.
Can I just set the TPB External Test for the users that use VISTA and send you the log?
P.S. the log posted on Fri Sep 25, 2009 8:11 am is a complete log.It should have all the information you need. |

I understand.
Yes, you can simply set the TPB External Test for the users that use VISTA and post the log file.
A complete log file ends with OK or an error message. _________________ </Jesper> | Manage Email Signatures from your Desktop | Test Email Signature in All In-boxes | Email Signature Showcase |

Please see the error message displayed for the other VISTA user that doesn't get a email signature. The log was taken from Diagnostics --> Failed Users.
Why is the email signature looking in the Administrator's profile for the email signature? I assume it should be looking in it's own profile for the email signature...
John.Smith The signature path cannot be located. You might need to reinstall the profile. See how to on www.emailsignature.eu. Path 'C:\Users\administrator\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures\'. . 229/09/2009 08:32:56 12 10
Please assist. |

Maybe I am blind ... but where did you post the log file with this error?
Are none of your Vista users getting their signatures deployed? Or only some ...? _________________ </Jesper> | Manage Email Signatures from your Desktop | Test Email Signature in All In-boxes | Email Signature Showcase |

Hi Jesper,
Please see my responses to your questions: -
Maybe I am blind ... but where did you post the log file with this error?
* Log was posted in post on Fri Sep 25, 2009 8:11 am Post subject: Error Log for one Vista user. There was no OK or error displayed in the log, however the "John.Smith The signature path cannot be located. You might need to reinstall the profile. See how to on www.emailsignature.eu. Path 'C:\Users\administrator\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures\'. . 229/09/2009 08:32:56 12 10" error was displayed under Diagnostics --> Failed Users
Are none of your Vista users getting their signatures deployed? Or only some ...?
* None of the Vista users get email signatures, I have created 3 different email signatures and none work for Vista, however the same email signatures work for all Windows XP users. From the log it looks like the sign.exe points the email signature to look at 'C:\Users\administrator\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures\'. Please help |

|
|
Jesper,
I believe I have a similar issue. We have sign deployed to mostly XP machines without any issues with a logon script. However, recently we've added a couple of Vista machines (one PC with a roaming profile user, and one laptop with a local profile user), and they aren't able to obtain their signatures.
At the bottom of the log for these users is:
| Code: |
Status: The signature path cannot be located. You might need to reinstall the profile. See how to on www.emailsignature.eu. Path 'C:\Users\LocalUser\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures\'. |
Notice the username in the profile path. This is wrong. Their actual profile path is different to this.
Where does eMailSignature/Sign.exe get this path from? Is it a registry key I can change? Is it in the settings.mdb database?
I believe I have an explanation for this within my environment. On all of our machines, I have amended the 'Default User' user profile so it is configured to our corporate branding etc. This way, the first time a user logs on, their roaming profile is just the way we like it. The user I used to create this 'Default User' profile is LocalUser (before copying it).
Does this make sense? Can anyone think of a solution? |
