Hi,
I have completely repaired the MDAC components and have rebooted the PC but still no signatures are appearing.
Status monitor is showing that the user has a problem
Getting following message in the log file:
Status: 6545: 429, ActiveX component can't create object
Any further suggestions?
Thanks |

Does signatures appear when user logs on to another PC? _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

Yes the signature is fine if the user logs on to another PC.
I have run the MDAC component checker and it reads as MDAC 2.8 SP1 on Windows XP SP2 with no mismatches so it does not seem to be an MDAC issue. |

The MDAC component is still the reason for your issue ...
Does this repair your MDAC 2.8 on WinXP with SP2 installed? (Worked for others and is slightly different than the previous link)
First, locate the mdac.inf file in c:\windows\inf right click and
install
when prompted for a location, point to
c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386 then when prompted for the XPcd,
either load the cd or point to c:\i386
WORKAROUND
Preview signature(s) for the user and then click 'Save this signature' and save files in users application data folder. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

Hi,
The method that you mentioned using the XP cd is the second method that I tried. Unfortunately it has not resolved the issue.
I am attempting the workaround however, do not seem to have the 'save as' facility when previewing a signature. Is this a new feature? We are running 4.7.1
Thanks |

The WORKAROUND is a new feature in version 5.
Upgrading from version 4.8.5 or earlier
Install Cockpit on another PC so you can have both the old and the new software running at the same time. This will allow you to copy all templates and settings to your new installation. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

I managed to upgrade sucessfully to version 5 after a few licensing issues.
This then compounded the problem as user running on Win2K that was working perfectly under version 4.7.1 came up with a new error. However updating their MDAC components to 2.80 it resoved the issue.
The user on XP that this original problem started with still has the same problem.
Saving the files to the application data directory gives a temporary workaround, although I am at a loss as to what to try next to completely resolve the issue. |

Unfortunately, I cannot assist with solving issues related to one specific PC - other than advise you to reinstall the PC ... .
I am confident that the MDAC component is still corrupt on that PC as the user is OK on other PC. But I only know the procedure you tried. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase
