|
|
Hi,
I have a client running esig V5 perfectly on her XP and Outlook 2003 users through SQL2000
When she runs the srcipt for Vista users with Outlook 2007, she gets the following error- Status: File not found There are probably strange characters in the signature name. Please avoid '/'s or any other illegal characters in the signature name
The client gets this error with the signature she has created (which has no special characters) and when only deploying one of the demonstration signatures from the cockpit.
Any ideas why this would happen in Vista/Outlook 2007?
Thanks |

Right click on EXE-file and select Run As. On Vista it not sufficient to be logged on as administrator.
This is standard Vista security blocking. Just spoke with a guy who upgraded to Vista to SP1, and then things went back to 'normal' XP ... .
Next release will be more Vista compatible. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase | |

Hi Jesper,
I have tried creating a signature from scratch as well as using the Demo signatures and been through tests with Dave Culley and both he and I cannot find a fix
Summary
There is no need to change default Vista permissions on clients. The 'run as' on Vista is ONLY necessary when installing Cockpit for admins. Using don't need the Cockpit. It confuses me to see that IT.VBS is located on your local drive, as it won't work for other users. [I did this for ease as I did not want to log off and back on again]
Next step
Email signatures can only be deployed to clients that have created one signature manually, as Outlook creates the necessary folders during during first run. If you are using a test email account, this is usually the problem. [I am not using a test email account]
Try manually and create one 'dummy' email signature - within Outlook - and logged in as daxa.kendrick? [Tried this but still did not work]
Then run your script again and post results from Diagnostics. OK in Outlook now?

Also Jesper,
I am not using Word Editor via the cockpit but the Debug code says "Word as Editor is not accepted. Default mail editor changed (Word as Editor removed)."
I have searched Outlook 2007 Help which informs me that Word 2007 is enabled by default and cannot be disabled. Could this be the root of the problem and why the signature even the basic simple reply does not work?
Would you be able to let me trail out 4.9.2 of the Office Addon as this what the Danish Office is using and they have both XP/2003 and Vista/2007 users working with EmailSignature
Thanks Daxa _________________ Daxa Kendrick

We have thousands of users running Outlook 2007 on Vista, so I am troubleshooting your setup ... as no reports with your issue are posted ...
- Please confirm that you can manually setup a default signature in your Outlook 2007? (This signature must show when you click 'New' in Outlook)
- Are you using SQL 2000 settings DB and followed this instruction?
- Try and connect to the default Access settings DB (normally works without performance issues up to 200 users).
Cockpit -> File menu -> Settings Database, browse to Program Files/Office add-on/eMailSignature/. Does this settings DB work for you? (only works for you untill you copy it to a netshare)

Please confirm that you can manually setup a default signature in your Outlook 2007? (This signature must show when you click 'New' in Outlook) - Yes I confirm I have done this and setup so that it was used for both New Mail and replies/forwards
Are you using SQL 2000 settings DB and followed this instruction? Yes
Try and connect to the default Access settings DB.
Cockpit -> File menu -> Settings Database, browse to Program Files/Office add-on/eMailSignature/. Does this settings DB work? Access DB created but does not work with Outlook 2007 also i noticed that the options for both Mail and replies/forward are now blank since running the sign.exe.
Here is debug code that got generated after I changed DB to Access
