|
|
I recently changed our setting from "Do not change fonts on Outlook clients" to "use this font when you compose emails". I select the font and font size to our requirements.
After running the sign.exe, it does not appear to have changed the font for my Outlook client. My font and font size are exactly the same prior to running the sign.exe.
I do not get any errors running the sign.exe file and my account in Cockpit is showing the current date/time for running the sign.exe.
Any suggestions? |

Hi,
Have you closed Outlook and opened it again? eMailSignature can only apply its changes when Outlook is closed.
Thanks |

Does it work if you connect to the standard Access settings DB in your installation folder?
As I cannot recreate the symptom with my Access settings DB, please ZIP and forward your settings DB to me (i.e. jf(at)officeaddon.com). _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

Jesper,
I can test with an Access database if you like, but we no longer use Access. We had a problem with the Access database continuing to crash, so we moved it to SQL. Since then no problems with crashing.
Do you still want me to test with an Access database?

Jesper,
I pointed the Cockpit database settings to the default locally installed settings database.
I then went to the "Control signature Settings and Fonts". I set the "Compose Font" to "Make the reply font the same as the send font". For testing purposes, I set the font to "Comic Sans MS" and font size to 12.
I ran the sign.exe which assigned me the Business Card Demo for new email and eMailSignature Demo for replies.
When I open Outlook and create a new email, the body of the message is still my Outlook default font of Calibri, size 11. The body should now be Comic Sans MS size 12 as the Cockpit font settings dictate, correct? The same thing for a reply message.

Allan,
Please ZIP and forward your Access settings DB to jf(at)officeaddon.com.
I will return.

|
|
Allan,
Received your settings DB.
Allowing Word as Editor is restricting some Outlook settings. Font settings is one of them. So you will have to remove Word as editor once in order to deploy your font settings.
Using Outlook 2007, users will not see any difference as Word cannot be removed by Outlook design.
Solutions 1
Delete users from Cockpit in Status Monitor.
During first logon, Word is always removed and your font setting wil be deployed.
Solution 2
Do not allow Word as Editor in Outlook General Settings.
Allow Word again when all users are logged in.
OK now? _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

Jesper,
I'm using the settings database I sent to you to do my testing, that way it will only affect my signature.
1. Closed Outlook
2. Deleted my account from the Cockpit Status Monitor
3. Changed Message Format by removing check for "Allow word as editor..."
4. Changed font to: Comic Sans MS - size 12
5. Saved changes.
6. Verified Outlook does not show in Task Manager processes.
7. Ran the sign.exe.
8. Verified that I'm now showing in the status monitor.
9. Opened Outlook (v. 2007).
10. Opened a new email and found my font settings have not changed for the body of the message.
I went as far as changing the Message Format back to "Allow Word as Editor...", saved the changes and ran the sign.exe again. Still no changes with the font.
Am I missing a step somewhere?

Just forwarded the test I made using Outlook 2003, your Access settings DB and AD as data source. I simply connected to your DB, ran Sign.exe and got Comic Sans MS as my body font.
Cannot recreate the issue and got no other reports
Can you test on a clean install PC. Or simply try and delete your Outlook profile? Or try it at home ...
Assume you have not deleted Comic Sans MS font on your test PC. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

Jesper,
I tested this out with Outlook 2003 and pointing to our production settings database. That worked just fine.
However, it doesn't work with Outlook 2007, which is what our staff uses.

You're right!
I have the same issue in my Outlook 2007 and have now reported this in the bug section.
Wonder why we have not received any other reports ... anyway we will have to check further to see if this is really a general error. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase
