We are experiencing issues with images re-sizing themselves in certain clients. We have manually specified image width and height as suggested.

One of my suspicions is that the design view alters manual changes to the code view, but I can't prove that, as I am not directly involved in the signature design work.

One other point to note is that the size issues are typically tied to the width of the linked images.

Please review the data below and let me know if there is anything obviously wrong with the code.

Thanks in advance! (More info can be provided as needed)

Your HTML is OK and includes IMG HEIGHT and WIDTH tags.

Please check time stamp in Cockpit -> Help menu -> Diagnostics, to validate that users are pulling your saved HTML from the database.

Question I assume that the clients having the issues are using old HTML?

Idea In Cockpit, you simply double click the image to add IMG HEIGHT and WIDTH tags when you press OK.

Next step: Please post log file for user with the symptom.

I removed the user names, but the rest of the data is here. The vast majority of the users that haven't updated since sometime in October are no long employed with the company, and will removed from the database shortly. There are a few anomalies worth looking into, however, and I will look into those accounts shortly and report results.

One option I considered was to remove all of the users from the database to see if the issue goes away. I am asking the primary person reporting the issue(s) for a rough count of users experiencing the issue.

We had sporadic issues where it would appear that old signatures would show up again for users after logging off and logging on again..can't imagine why that would happen.

One suspicion in that regard would be that the users were using cached logon scripts that pointed to the old database (we switched from access to MSSQL due to corruption issues). I haven't received reports of this issue lately, however.

I was also considering enabling the option to delete all existing signatures before deploying new ones; not sure if that would have a positive impact or simply delete the users' existing signatures.

What I need is the log file ... Wink Cannot assist you without the log file as your symptom is not a general problem.

Help -> Diagnoctics, right click user and post the log file for one user with the error.

Idea Remove users the same place as where you find the log file.

I should have seen the issue before, but here you go.
You cannot size your images in HTML as email clients cannot render it correct.

Code:
http://www.handango.com/marketing/Email_Sigs/line%20(HR).gif

Please follow these steps and your image will show correct:
  1. Rename 'line (HR)' to something without a space in the name (Best Practice).
  2. Resize your image to 400x48.
  3. Link to your image in Cockpit and double click the image to add HEIGHT an WIDTH tags.

Exclamation Just noticed an HTML error which must be corrected, but this is not related to your symptom above.

    Code:
    ---- Find ------->
    <TABLE cellPadding=0 cellspcaing="0">
    ---- change to --->
    <TABLE cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">

Question OK now?

I will fix the space issue; would have done so already had I noticed it.
I will also fix the html formatting issue 0 vs. "0"
I am not entirely clear on what you mean by this statement:

You cannot size your images in HTML as email clients cannot render it correct.

Does this mean I need to edit/resize the image file saved on our web server, and also specify the height and width when linking the image in the signature editor?

Thanks for the support!

The important part of the change is the spelling error in 'cellspcaing'.

Yes, you need to resize, upload and then link to the image. Email clients are not like browsers and have limited HTML rendering capabilities - especially Outlook 2007 which uses Word to render HTML.

Jesper,

Just as an FYI, I found that 3-4 of our systems were somehow running an old logon script...which makes no sense whatsoever to me, but incidentally, that script would have pointed those users to an older, 'beta' copy of the signature in question, that wasn't correct in even more ways!

At any rate, I fixed that issue, as far as I can tell; not sure what to attribute it to yet, but if I determine the exact solution, I will post it. This behavior was evidenced by opening the old access database (we now use MSSQL) and validating that a handful of users had updated their signatures against that database as recently as October 21st...we switched data sources in early September. I had removed access to that access database last week on something of a hunch; the symptoms that had me look again were that some users reported a generic 'Email Signature' error pop-up on startup a few days after I removed access.

The primary question in the above issue is how they were still executing the old script when it didn't exist anymore, but that's a windows issue.

Regardless, we're implementing the suggestions you've made this morning, although we'll likely be waiting a day or two on properly re-sized images.
