When I send a message with a linked logo (stored on my web server), no file attachment icon appears in Outlook.

However, if I send a message to someone who replies using OWA, the graphic gets inserted as an attachment.

Is there a way to suppress this?

Thanks,

Joe Stern

Hi Joe,

Linked images should not appear as paper clip attachment icon.

I want to test your HTML on our Exchange Server 2007.
Please forward user log file (Cockpit > Diagnostics).

Thanks.

Images appear as paper clip attachment icon in OWA light

Replying in OWA Light is in plain text only. As images are not supported in plain text format, images will show as attachments on replies and forwards to keep the context of the message intact.

Exclamation Users using Firefox browser will only be able to use the Light version!

I'm intrigued by your results. I am seeing the paper clip even when replying with the rich client IE 8 version of OWA.

I have opened a case with Microsoft to see if I have something odd about my Exchange 2007 configuration.

Hello Jesper et. al. –

I’m still trying to figure out why I’m getting the paper clip icon when I use Outlook Web Access to reply to or forward an e-mail with a linked logo. I noticed today that the source for a new message includes the following HTML:

Code:
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;color:black'><img width=246
height=73 id="_x0000_i1026" [b]src="cid:image001.gif@01CAD18B.8705E410"[/b]
alt="My Company Name"></span><span style='font-size:10.0pt;
color:black'><br>

Is this to be expected? Or do I have my signature set up incorrectly?

Can you confirm that when you forward or reply to a message using the OWA rich client, that you do NOT see the paper clip?

Thanks,

- Joe

Hi Joe,

  1. Please send email from OWA to your Outlook. Logged in as the user(s) with the symptom - or ask them to send to you.
  2. Now reply in your Outlook, and you will see that Outlook will reply in the same format as received (this is by Microsoft design).

    If you reply in Plain Text format, your OWA user is using OWA light.

  3. Try other users and see if some users are using HTML format (OWA Premium).

Next step?
    Please forward test emails to support(at)brandedmails.com and refer to this post.
