Hi there,

I need to move an installation of eMailSignature to new servers. There'll be a new cockpit installation and the DB will be moved from the old SQL 2000 server to the new SQL 2005 cluster.

What steps do I need to complete to move the DB to SQL 2005 successfully?

I've looked through the site and I'm happy with reinstalling the cockpit but I'm just not sure about the DB move. Can I just restore a backup of the current 2000 DB to 2005 or is there more I need to do?

Any help gratefully received Surprised)

Pete

Hi,

We don't have a script or something o help you do this.

I suggest that you create the 2005 version using our create script and then write some code that moves the content from 2000 to 2005. If yuou are not comfortable with that, I suggest that you fire up the Cockpit to work on the new 2005 db and do the settings from scratch. That might be faster if you don't have too many signatures and settings.

Sorry that I can't help more than this.

Cheers,
Bjarne

OK, no problem. I can copy the tables across if that's all that's involved.

If it all goes horribly wrong, I'll just set the sigs up again from scratch, we don't have a huge amount.

Thanks anyway,

Pete
