Hi there,
I've seen a few posts on here about nested distribution groups and it seems that they are supported.
However, I just cannot get members of nested dist groups tro pick up signatures.
For example:
DistGroup1<---------Signature applied here
-ITDeptDistGroup
--User1
In the above scenario, User1 does not pick up a signature. If I put User1 in the DistGroup1 distribution group, signatures work as exepected.
We are currently distributing via login script but running sign.exe from the cockpit has the same results.
Is there anything I can try? |

Hi Pete,
Yes, nested distribution groups are supported.
I suggest that you delete your group in the Cockpit and then add the group again.
If things have changed in your Active Directory, those changes are not picked up by the Cockpit unless you re-add the group.
Does it work after adding the ITDeptDistGroup again?
No ... then please post log file for one users member of your nested distribution group.
In the coming version 7 you will be able to validate Cockpit groups against your Active Directory groups. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

Hi Jesper,
I've already tried removing and adding groups, I've also created new test groups and it still doesn't work.
The user will get the default settings but the group settings are not applied.
If I move the user into the distribution group directly, it works fine.
I have pm'ed you a copy of the log |

Yep, they are set for ALL. I am getting the default groups but I am supposed to be getting the priority group settings. I am a member of a group which is nested within 2B Corin group.
I've pm'ed the Signature deployment report... |

All your Groups are set as a priority group.
This settings is used by Sign.exe to determine the priority if a user is a member of several groups.
Does setting only one group as a priority group solve the symptom?
If still a problem, my recommendation is to try the default Access settings database located in your install folder (/program files/office add-on/emailsignature/settings.mdb).
Same problem using the default Access settings DB? _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

Hi again,
Setting only one group as priority does not make any difference, neither does using the default Access settings DB. Same problem occurs.
I've created new distribution groups with users only (no nested groups) specifically for email signatures. It's a bit of a pain but I need to roll the new signatures out at the end of today so I needed to get it working.
It would be nice to be able to use nested groups if possible though, it would save me having to maintain extra distribution groups. |

I understand ... take a look at this post.

Maybe your GC Server is down?
In Advanced Technical Settings (File menu), you can try using differnet settings including "GC://".
This symptom is very strange ... _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

Hi Jesper,
We have 8 GCs throughout the domain (multiple international sites) so I don't think it is a problem there.
I'll have a play with the LDAP settings though and specify a particular GC and see if I can get it working. |
