It is possible to restrict who can edit and correct signatures. This is e.g. useful if a company has several subsidiaries where there are different signature admins where certain signatures cannot be modified by another person.
To ensure this you need to do a database trick. This cannot be controlled and managed from within the Cockpit.
You need to know the account initials of the person who is NOT allowed to alter the signatures, e.g. 'JOHN.DOE'.
Access the database in table 'settings' and locate column 'custom_str4'. Locate the signatures you want to restrict (find the signature name in custom_str3 with signatureextension 'htm'') and enter the account names within the same domain of the users who are allowed to change the signature in field custom_str4. Example: JOHN.DOE. This means that JOHN-DOE is NOT allowed to change the signatures. When the field is blank no restrictions apply.
You could ask "Do I need to write in all my users here?". No, of course not. If you have two administrators for each department, you only need to put on of the account names in. "normal" users will not use the Cockpit anyways.
Only use this for HTML format. RTF and TXT formats apply automatically.
This is a feature from version 4.8.1.
It is not generally recommended to change anything manually in the database. This is on your own responsibility and we are not able to help you if you change something in the database that might get the system to stop working. |
