I am working to cleanup some of our users and have two questions:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have set up a group in AD so that specific users do not get eMailSignautre installed, but it does not stop those users from running the program manually. I want to set up the users in the cockpit so that when they run it they do not get signatures (and maybe get some type of message stating they are not a licensed user please contact Administrator) and also so that they do not take up a license.
Is there a way to set a user in the cockpit so that they are set to never run the program.
============================================
I am also working to clean up users that are no longer with the firm and have been removed from AD. Is there a way to re-synch the program so that users who are no longer in AD are removed from the cockpit?
Just found the ReleaseLicense.exe post so that answers my question about the removal of licenses
Great
Another option is to delete users within your Cockpit.
Cockpit -> Help menu -> Diagnostics, right click user and 'Remove this user ...'
Thank you, I have been using that method, but when you have 200+ users to remove and can't select more than one at a time
+ you have to delete
+ wait for a refresh (which makes you lose the sort)
+ resort
+ browse to find the next one again
+ repeat for each user
I did over 100 yesterday and it took more than 1/2 of my day to compelte.
This is hours of work.
I attempted to use the ReleaseLicenses.exe and I receive errors, so I need a method that is less time consuming.
You can delete users in LgdaUsers table in your settings DB.
Exclamation When you manually edit the settings DB, we are no longer responsible.
I am not sure what you mean. In the cockpit I open up the status monitor, right click on the specific user I want removed and select remove from emailsignature. Is that not the correct method?
Your settings DB is the database (Access or SQL) where your Cockpit settings are stored.
Locate your settings DB here:
    Cockpit -> File menu -> Settings Database
Exclamation If you are not familiar with Access or SQL, I suggest that you ask IT to assist and follow direction in this post - or you can contact our US partner for remote assistance.
Thanks.
Are you able to address my other question?
Forgot all about your 2nd question ... Embarassed
I believe this FAQ answers your question: How can I avoid administrative accounts using licenses?
As you use Active Directory as data source, you cannot use Advanced Rule-based Deployment mentioned by my colleague Dave.
