|
|
Goodmorning,
I'm having the following problem.
Users are showing up in the lists under Individual however some of them get no name and signatures even though a signature has been set under Signatures for All and under Groups for a group they belong to.
As an example i've added screenshots for the user DOM.
The first one shows that a signature for all has been set.
The second that the group U-FG-50430 to which DOM belongs (which is shown in screenshot four) has a signature assigned
The third that shows DOM under Individual without a name and signature.
And last screenshot five showing DOM having a name in the AD.
I haven't been able to figure out what is causing this situation. Out of the 1248 users 26 have no name and signature (9 have a name but no signature).
Do you have any idea what could be the cause and/or suggestions about how to proceed?
Signature for All
Groups
Individual
User belongs to group
User has a name in the AD

Hello Erwin,
Welcome to the forums!
Is user DOM getting email signature from a Distribution List or from a Security Group?
And are anybody else getting signatures deployed OK from that group?
If you are using Access database as your back-end, please ZIP and forward to support@ and refer to this post.
You have detailed Log File in Diagnostics > Status Monitor, Log column.
Thanks. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

It's a security group
And are anybody else getting signatures deployed OK from that group?
I hadn't checked that. As it turns out of the six users in the group only one gets a name but none of them gets a signature. I will also check the other users who aren't getting a signature to see which groups they are in and see if others in those groups also don't get a signature. I'll place that information in an other reply when i have it.

Ours connects to a MS-SQL database
You have detailed Log File in Diagnostics > Status Monitor, Log column
DOM and the others from that group who have no name don't show up in the status monitor. Below is the log of the one user who does get a name.

- Please validate that all tables are OK in your SQL database:
Diagnostics > Check settings database constancy
- Nested security groups are not supported (yet). Please try and add users to a distribution list.
- Please run your script and post log file for user DOM.

Checking database consistency.

If any 'invalid column names' are reported here, you will need to create that column in
the table. The reason for the column to missing is that the database has not been upgraded
to match this version of eMailSignature. Please consult www.emailsignature.eu

We don't use nested security groups.
Please run your script and post log file for user DOM.
I've just asked the servicedesk to contact the user, remote control her computer and run sign.exe

Here is the overview of the groups that contain the users that don't get a signature and the total number of users belonging to that group.
As you can see the U-FG-50430 group DOM belongs to is the only group where no one got a signature.

This is very strange as users gets For All setting if they are not managed individually - or are not identified as member of OUs/groups.
Please forward 2 log files to support(at)brandedmails.com:
- Log file for user DOM
- Log file for another user identified as being a member of your security group.
WORKAROUND
As none of your security groups works as intended, please try and change U-FG-50430 to a distribution list and monitor if that works for you.
Thanks. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase

I'll send the logfiles to the specified mail address when i have them.
In reference the the workaround. The table only showed the 17 security groups that had users who didn't get a signature. We have 119 security groups that have a group signature. |

The servicedesk has manually run sign.exe on the users computer however DOM still doesn't show up in the status monitor. This ofcourse means there is no log file to send to the mailaddress.
What i do see is that the cockpit says the signatuer has failed for 35 users while the status monitor only shows four failed users (all four for valid reasons). |

It turns out that the servicedesk person who helped me is also the one person in the U-FG-12320 group who isn't getting a signature (anymore). As he does have an emailsignature (not created by himself) i must assume that at one time it has worked for him.
He does show up in the status monitor so i can send his log file. He however isn't one of the persons whose name is missing. As far as i've seen non of the persons whose name is missing are showing up in the status monitor.
I'll send his and my own log file to the mail address mentioned above. |

I was supprised to see the error below when i clicked on "Check version" when looking at a log file. I however doubt this relates to our problem as a wrong version should effect everyone and not just a few people.

Can you please try to remove the group from your Groups List, import it again and try the deployment?
Thank you. _________________ with kind regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen

| I've removed group U-FG-12320 and then added it again. However when i have HXM run the sign.exe he still doesn't get any signatures. Not the group ones and not the signature for all one. |

When i choose "Validate imported groups" and click yes it seems to only check the first two groups. I've waited for a while but no more checks appeared.

I've been going over all the individual settings and turned off all the unnessesary individual signatures. Quite a lot of the people not getting a signature were people who had the box checked but there were no individual signatures set.
I thought i had unchecked all of those. I had however failed to notice that the checked/unchecked state is only saved when there is something set for the fields "new messages" and "replies/forwards".
I've also been able to eliminate 5 persons who were in a group that hadn't been added to the groups (not the u-FG-50430 group).
At the moment i'm seeing 6 persons in the status monitor who didn't get a signature. For all 6 it says "No signatures to deploy - OU based users".
Persons who don't get a name don't show up in the status monitor so the numbers might be a bit higher then 6.
I will keep an eye on this for the next few days. I think you better wait with putting effort into this until i have been able to see what the results are. |
