I recently installed and set up eMailSignature (using 4.9.0) and have set up several signatures and I am doing pre-deployment testing. We have run into several issues which create a barrier to deployment as is:
All users are using Outlook 2003.

1. Every time the script is run it un-checks the option to use Word as Editor. As most all of our users like to use Word as the editor, this is a problem. The reasons they like Word as Editor is mainly real-time spell-check (red squiglies). They should not have to check this box every time they log into their machine.

2. If they leave Word as Editor unchecked, it uses the font I specify to use in the EMailSignature settings. If they check Word as Editor (as most like to do) then when they start a new message it uses Times New Roman instead of the font that I specified. This is unacceptable as we want to specifiy a corporate font.

3. We would like the reply font color to be #004080 which is different from the standard black we have on initial messages. I have changed the signature used for replies to use this color, but when a reply is started, the signature is in blue but the text font is in black. I can find no option to set the reply color.

We purchased this program to standardize our signatures across the company based on Marketing driven standards. All 3 of the above issues break the standards set out by Marketing.

Am I mis-understanding how to set some of these options? Or is this software simply lacking the features I need to deploy a solution that meets the business requirements?

Thank you for any guidance and assistance.

Hi Alex,

Thank you for purchasing our product. Let me answer your questions here:

1. Please note that Word as Editor will be removed for the first time a user runs sign.exe. After then you can see the user in the Status Monitor. Please remember to allow your users to use Word as Editor in the Outlook settings like here. Next time they run sign.exe it will not be removed.

2. I believe this is related to question 1.

3. We can send you a special reg hack to provide your wish for a special font color. You will receive this by email from my collegue Jesper Frier.

Please let us know how this goes.

Thanks,
Bjarne

Thanks Bjarne,

I'm still doing some testing on a few users, but so far it looks like following your suggestions and using the reg key Jesper sent, it looks like it is working.

I think the key things that threw me off were:
1. I had seen the "Allow Word as Editor" checkbox and checked it. But then when I ran sign.exe on test users, it unchecked the setting in their outlook so I thought it wasn't working. I then thought perhaps the setting in emailsignature was backwards and tried unchecking that. The users were still getting the setting unchecked. Now after reading your info, I realize that it always unchecks it for the user the first time, but as long as I keep that setting in emailsignature it will keep it after future runnings of sign.exe.
2. I did not realize I needed a special registry key for the reply fonts.

I still need to run a few more test users in different departments, but if they work out I think we are good to move forward.
