This article describes how to release licenses taken up by users who are no longer in the company.

You can release licenses manually from within the Cockpit, but you can also do it from batch.

Please get the ReleaseLicense.exe file from the download section. You can set it up to run as a scheduled task and e.g. run it once a week if you have thousands of licenses.

This file will automatically remove licenses who haven't been used for the past 30 days.

You must be running version 4.9.1 or later to use this tool. Please upgrade if you need this.

Monitoring
You can monitor the number of licenses released and which users it applies for. Simply browse to the HKCU\SOFTWARE\Office add-on\eMailSignature and locate the keys 'LicenseReleaseXX'. There you will see the status and last run date etc.
