It is possible to run eMailSignature without having a Windows Domain or an Active Directory. I have just completed an installation where a company running 40 PC's on a Mac network wanted to standardise signatures. Having set up the Cockpit locally on a single desktop, I created an employee directory within a new Table of settings.mdb. This directory needs to have the computer name of each PC in the first column, followed by the user information. The logon script will not work as they are not logging on, however it is possible to create a .bat file with the deployment script and store this locally on each machines Startup folder. The signatures will be deployed by PC name rather than Logon name and will update when each machine is switched on.
The signatures will then be fixed to each desktop rather than each employee, meaning roaming profiles will not be supported.
Please ask me for further details!
Enjoy... |

Hi Dave,
Hey, I finally got round to purchasing and deploying, and thanks to Jesper for the rapid reply to my support request earlier today; immediate solution!
Your post at the start of this thread is of immediate interest to me. We have a domain in place but a number of our users / engineers are in other parts of the country and on the basis that they can connect to OWA for their email rarely, if ever, connect to the domain either in the office or over VPN; some of them in fact have laptops which are not even domain clients.
Can you guide me through how I can deploy service & licences to them (who were allowed for in the purchase) and keep their signatures up to date as we tweak them from here.
Thanks and regards

Perhaps Dave is away as I have had no response to this post or an email dated the same day; almost a week ago now. So can somebody else please help me.
My 13 licences are now successfully deployed as to 10 (domain) users but the other three users machines are not domain clients, two use OWA for their email and the other still uses Outlook / Exchange but without logging on to the domain.
Can somebody please guide me through how I can set up eMail Signature for these users via OWA and still using Exchange in the case of the third user.
Thanks and regards

To use Outlook, your user need to get the Outlook setings form the setting.mdb.
Does your non domain user have access to your settings.mdb?
Then just execute Sign.exe with parameter to the database.
To use OWA, please follow this Quick-Guide.
Debug here if you have any errors. |
