Hi Jesper,

On your website you give the case study of ‘Guinness book of records’ having different records at the end of their signature email every day.

We have about 10 alternative marketing messages which we wish to rotate on a daily basis, what is the best to achieve this?

I presume this is not achieved by making a new campaign for every day.

Many thanks

James

You are right, this is not done by making a campaign every day.

We did this the following way:

We use activeExport to export users from AD to a SQL Server database so we have all the user details here. This is scheduled to run once a day.

All records are put into the same database in a special table.

Then we built a view that returns all user details and a random record from the records table. Each time you run the view the record changes.

In the Cockpit we add this field to the signature and there you are.

Please let's know if you want us to help you with that.

Thanks,
Bjarne

Hi Bjarne,

We currently do not use AD or SQL Server.
We have an Access DB that contains all the user details. We then use a logon script on each client machine to run sign.exe on logon.

Is it possible to achieve our desired result using such a setup?

Thanks,

James

Hi,

Well, then I'm not sure how we can do it. Let me have a few thoughts about it and see if we can fnd an alternative solution then.

I'll be back.

HI Bjane,

i am using the random campaign feature.

1) is it posible to randomise campaigns within groups? i.e. we have 3 english, 3 german, 3 french campgins and similar country user groups setup. we want to rotate the campaigns within the langauge groups but not cross language. is this possible?

2) when using the randome campaign setting it seems that 1 of the possible randome outcomes is no campaign at all. is this intended?

could it be that when you have a global campaign setting of random, that 'inactive' campaigns within a current date range cause this issue?

thanks in advance

Kind Regards,

James

Hi James,

1. No, not as it is designed now.
2. The reason for that is very likely that you have a disabled campaign or that the campaign has run out.

Thanks,
Bjarne

thanks Bjarne,

2) is there way to set a campaign (becuase i dont want to delete it if we need later) so that its not included in the randomisation?

if not i think its an essential feature for the next release that inactive campaigns dont count into the random pool.
