Hi,
We have been using eMailSignature for a few months now with minimal problems. However, I have recently added a number of Russian signatures with the text "С уважением" (I believe this means Kind Regards), but then the signature appears blank to the user. It shows correctly in the Cockpit, but not in Outlook. If I remove this text from the template, it shows fine.

I am running a Server 2008 DC, Outlook 2007 on the clients, and eMailSignature 5.0.0.

Does the software support foreign language character sets? Any ideas how to resolve?

Many Thanks,
James Glaves

Hi James,

I can recreate this issue in my Outlook 2007 using Sign.exe v.5.0.

Due to rendering problems with HTML copied from Microsoft Word, we have setup a HTML-check that removes code not generally supported in email clients.

Unfortunately, this rendering check also removes Cyrillic characters.

This is the log file error:
Log file wrote:
Status: Cannot write the file. If you have generated this version automatically, please remove unwanted code and unused tags

I have reported this issue in the bug section.

WORKAROUND
If you have only a few clients that require your Russian signature, this workaround might work.
In Preview click Save this signature and then deploy manually to C:\Documents and Settings\%PROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures.

Readring Cyrillic (or other non wester character sets), there shouldn't be any problems with this in general and it should work just fine.

Please confirm that you have your data in AD in the correct character set for data merge.

Thanks.

Jesper,
Thanks for confirming this as a bug. I have removed the Cyrillic characters from the signature for the time being. It is more of a 'want' than a 'need' to have the Russian text included in the signature. The individuals can always add it manually if they want!

KR,
James
