|
|
Hello,
Is there a way to make Outlook Email Signature permanent delete some users so that when they are logged in, the don't get a Email Signature?
I know you can delete users from Help --> Diagnostics but when the users are logged in a few days later, the programm still wants to give them a Email Signature.
For example I have a few computers / users which name are laptop, guest1 and guest2. All of these users do not have a working email adrress so they don't need a Outlook Email Signature.
But the problem is that they count for the amount of used registered users so we are having a little bit short of licences, or we must buy extra licenses but that's a little bit unneccesary because we do have enough licences for everybody who do needs the Outlook Email Signature.
Kind regards,

Users executing Sign.exe during logon require a license key.
So controlling who execute Sign.exe, you control which users will pull a license.
Resolution
Simply do not run Sign.exe for your laptop, guest1 and guest2 logon's.
There are several ways to execute Sign.exe.
Some customers use GPO's, some use KIXX script and many use standard bat-file. _________________ </Jesper> | Test Email Signature | Showcase | |

Try creating a security group & assign all valid users to that group.
Add the group to sign.exe security permissions with read & execute permission & remove execute permissions from all others (administrators, authenticated users, etc.).
The mentioned users will not have execute permissions and sign.exe will not run for them. |

I have discovered a flaw in this solution...
You will need to create a user that has execute permissions on sign.exe but never logs in so that you can use these credentials in the registry entries to run SignOWA.exe.
Since these credentials are stored in the registry in clear text, you should severly restrict what this user can do - preferably only allowing this user to run sign.exe, signowa.exe, and nothing else.
Regards,
