Since upgrading to 7.0.4 recently, we are having problems implementing signowa.exe as it crashes. The error message after running "signowa -v" is:

Unhandled Exception: System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: The da
ta is invalid.
at System.Security.Cryptography.ProtectedData.Unprotect(Byte[] encryptedData,
Byte[] optionalEntropy, DataProtectionScope scope)
at OA.SignOWA.Encryption.Decrypt(String base64Ciphertext)
at OA.SignOWA.OwaRegistrySettings..ctor(Boolean useEncryption, String userId,
String password, String domain, String proxyUrl, String proxyUserName, String proxyPassword, IDataGateway dataGateway)
at OA.SignOWA.RegistryHandler.GetSettings()
at SignOWA.Program.Main(String[] args)

Please advise.

You will see this error if OWAuseencryption in the registry settings has been set to 1 manually but OWAuid and OWApwd have not been previously encrypted. In this case set OWAuseencryption to 0.

You will also see this error if you encrypted the username and password on one machine and then copied the registry settings to another machine. In this case you need to re-run the encryption on the new machine.

Finally you may get this error if you are using encryption and your eMailSignature license key has been updated. In this case re-run the encryption.

I hope this helps.
