How will it affect bandwidth and storage requirements?

If you use linked image, your bandwidth usage is affected equivalent to the image file size multiplied by the number of loads (views). Using linked images, your storage is not affected.
If you use embeded image (inline image), your email storage is affected equivalent to the image file size. But then the bandwidth is not affected.

Example

If your linked image is 5KB and you send out 3,000 emails each month, then bandwidth requirement is 15MB and your storage is not affected.
