Hi,

I have a client who uses outlook 2007 and therefore word as the email editor. They are having some issues with the way that outlook handles their images.

The siguature they have designed is all fine and previews ok in the cockpit, however when deployed to Outlook the hyperlinks (both web address and email) change from a size 10 (2) font to a size 12(3) font. it does not change any other attributes just the size. When the client drops all the text to a size 8(1) it does not change the size at all.
I have tested this and turning word off as the email editor stops this happening.

His code is below

<DIV><FONT face=verdana size=2></FONT></DIV><STRONG><EM><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=4>((First_name)) ((Last_name))<BR></FONT></EM></STRONG><FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#000080 size=2>((Department))<BR>((Title))<BR><BR>

<HR color=#000080>

<IMG height=51 src="REID-logo-7.gif" width=397><BR><FONT face="Arial Black" color=#000080 size=4>((Company))<BR><FONT face=Arial color=#000080 size=2>((Address)), ((City)), ((State/Province)), ((ZIP/Postal_Code)), England<BR>Tel:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ((Telephone_number))&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Email:&nbsp;&nbsp; <A href="mailto:((E-mail))"><FONT color=#0066cc>((E-mail))</FONT></A>&nbsp;<BR>Fax:&nbsp;&nbsp; ((Fax_number))&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Web:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <A href="http://www.reidsteel.com/"><FONT size=2>www.reidsteel.com</A>&nbsp;<BR>BCSA Member&nbsp;<FONT color=#000080>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</FONT>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 9pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Webdings">˜<FONT face=Arial color=#000080 size=2>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; RQSC Cat A1&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 9pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Webdings">˜<FONT face=Arial color=#000080 size=2>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; SCI Member<BR>

<HR color=#000080>

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try this HTML where several missing font-tags '</font>' are added and redundent tags are deleted:
Code:

<FONT face="Arial Black" color=#000080 size=4>((Company))</font><BR>

Please use the code exactly as I posted it above (the one you deploy is not the same).

Copy/paste above code to your Cockpit code view.
Then run sign.exe again and describe what your symptom; Which Outlook client version? Is it a general symptom for all users?

It might help me to understand if you also send me an email to jf(at)officeaddon.com where I can see the symptom.

Thanks.

Got you email, and in my Outlook 2007 I see your email and web links in font size 3.

This is the source code received in my Outlook 2007:
    Exclamation Both links are using font size=3

Code:
<a href="mailto:NickWright@reidsteel.co.uk"><font size=3 color=navy><span
style='font-size:12.0pt;color:navy'>NickWright@reidsteel.co.uk</span></font></a>

Code:
<a href="http://www.reidsteel.com/"><font size=3
color=navy><span style='font-size:12.0pt;color:navy'>www.reidsteel.com</span></font></a>

This is the source code I asked you to use:
    Exclamation Both links are using font size=2

Code:
<A href="mailto:((E-mail))"><FONT color=#000080 size=2>((E-mail))</FONT></A>

Code:
<A href="http://www.reidsteel.com/"><FONT color=#000080 size=2>www.reidsteel.com</FONT></A>

So what is mangling with your HTML formatting in Outlook?
Allowing Word as Editor in Outlook 2003, you depend on your MS Office settings to render HTML. As you are the first to report this behavior, your Office settings cannot be standard and you will have to check e.g. your normal.dot.

Idea Make sure that you are using the code posted by checking your log file.

Hi Nick,

Just talked to Dave from the UK Office, and he can recreate the issue on his Outlook 2003. I then open my version of Outlook 2003 and I can also recreate the issue ... Surprised

This is good, as we can now help you with a template that renders correct on Outlook with Word as Editor.

Dave will call you, and I post your new template when I hear from Dave.

I recreated your template from scratch.
Tested OK in my Outlook 2003 with Word as Editor and in Outlook 2007.

Copy to Cockpit in code view:
Code:

<font face="Comic Sans MS, Sans-Serif" color="#000080" size="4"><b><i>((First_name)) ((Last_name))</i></b></font><br>
<font face="Comic Sans MS, Sans-Serif" color="#000080" size="2">((Department))<br>
((Title))</font><br><br>

<HR color="#000080">
<img height="51" src="REID-logo-7.gif" width="397"><br>
<font face="Arial Black, Sans-Serif" color="#000080" size="4">((Company))</font><br>
<font face="Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Sans-Serif" color="#000080" size="2">((Address)), ((City)), ((State/Province)), ((ZIP/Postal_Code)), England<br>
Tel:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; ((Telephone_number))&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Email:&nbsp;&nbsp;</font><a href="mailto:((E-mail))"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Sans-Serif" color="#000080" size="2">((E-mail))</font></a>&nbsp;<br>

<font face="Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Sans-Serif" color="#000080" size="2">BCSA Member&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</font><span style="FONT-SIZE: 9pt; COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Webdings">˜</span><font face="Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Sans-Serif" color="#000080" size="2">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; RQSC Cat A1&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; SCI Member</font><br>
<HR color="#000080">

<span style="FONT-SIZE: 9pt; COLOR: green; FONT-FAMILY: Webdings">P</span><font face="Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, Sans-Serif" color="#008000" size="1"> Think of the environment before printing.</font>

Do not know exactly, but something in your HTML. Instead of trying to find the error, it is often time saving to start from scratch.

This also explains why it is not a general error.
